Hockeytown Cafe
A themed sports restaurant and merchandising venue in Detroit wanted to integrate their extensive DMX-controlled lighting system to the Crestron® automation system that was controlling their array of 23 63” plasma TVs. CueServer was chosen by Spectacle Lighting Design as the interface between the two systems, allowing the Crestron processor to send serial (RS-232) commands to CueServer to control the building's lights. Once they had the system up and running, CueServer was then programmed to automatically adjust the lighting throughout the day by the use of its own timers and astronomical events. Then, the system programmer added the ability for the store managers to operate the lighting directly from the front panel of CueServer, with the LCD display showing the name of the running cue. “I also can not overstate how having the control interface of CueServer run on a standard web browser made my life so much easier when I programmed the system. The venue had a WiFi system for their patrons to access the Internet. Attaching CueServer to this system allowed me to take my Tablet PC on any of the 3 levels of the restaurant and program without any wires. What a huge time saver!” -- Robert Wertheimer of Spectacle Lighting Design Although the Crestron system can still address the CueServer and override its program, the customer reports that this feature is rarely used, since CueServer has been providing flawless lighting control to this remarkable restaurant.
