| Interactive Holiday Windows
A department store in Minnesota wanted an "interactive" holiday display in their storefront windows. Ron Ruehling of Ruehling and Associates delivered an interesting solution. Each display window was fitted with Red and Green colored lights controlled by DMX dimmers. The goal was to provide pushbuttons in front of the displays that children could press to toggle the color scheme of the windows between Red to Green.
Making It Work This one was simple. Two doorbell buttons were attached to the contact closure inputs of a CueServer. Then four cues were written (one cue for Red and another for Green for each of the two windows). Finally, the contact closures were programmed to advance their corresponding cues in two different playback faders. In no time, little guests of the store were hammering away at the buttons to see the displays change colors.
