Introducing Figment 5. An entire lighting control console miniaturized to fit in your pocket.

About the Palm OS Simulator

The Palm OS® Simulator is software that simulates an ARM-based Palm compatible handheld running Palm OS 5. It is extremely valuable for running Palm applications on desktop or laptop computers. The Palm OS Simulator currently runs only on Windows based machines.

Figment can run on the Palm OS Simulator and use the computer's serial port to connect to the Sidewinder console, just as if you had a physical Palm handheld. Also, if your computer is USB-based, a simple USB-to-Serial converter can be used to connect to the Sidewinder interface.

Please Note: The Palm OS Simulator is a Windows software application written, maintained and supported by palmSource. Interactive Technologies does not support this application in any way. It is extremely useful, but we cannot guarantee its operation with your computer. If you have any problems with it, we can try to help, but any bugs will have to be resolved by palmSource.

The Pros and Cons of the Palm OS Simulator

The Palm OS Simulator is a package that will run without any additional ROM files needed, however it only simulates an ARM-based Palm OS 5 handheld and only runs on Windows based machines. Mac users or users that wish to emulate other specific Palm handhelds might want to check out another tool that Palm distributes, the Palm OS Emulator.

Using the Palm OS Simulator

Download the Palm OS Simulator from palmSource's developer pages. Make sure you get one of the "Release" versions and not the "Debug" versions (the debug versions are used by software developers and will likely cause you undue complications).
